The Food & Assistance Board (FAB) of Closter is a volunteer committee of appointed members, responsible for providing support to families in the Closter community who may have fallen on difficult times and are in need. This support is delivered primarily through the services of the Closter Food Pantry (CFP) , a privately-funded core initiative of FAB that relies 100% on the generous donations of local individuals, groups, businesses, houses of worship and schools.
The Closter Food Pantry is currently working out of the Closter Senior Center located at 4 Lewis Street in Closter and is open to residents once a month during evening hours. Weekly disbursements of fresh bread, bagels and seasonal produce are also made, along with special provisions at the holidays. Our grocery cart and bulletin board is still located on the ground floor of Borough Hall. Please check the FAB bulletin board in Borough Hall for specific dates and times.
Anyone looking to donate cash, checks or grocery store gift cards to the Closter Food Pantry can either mail the donation to Closter FAB at 295 Closter Dock Road or stop by the Tax Office window during business hours to receive a receipt. Donations can also be left in the after-hours metal drop box located in the Ground Floor lobby.
Community members looking to donate non-perishable food or other grocery items may do so by depositing the items in the CFP grocery cart, located on the Ground Floor near the elevators. Please check to ensure the Best By date has not expired and that the item is unopened. If you are leaving a large donation or would like to make us aware of your donation, simply leave a note in each bag with your name and mailing address OR email us directly to let us know.

Although food is the primary initiative of the Food & Assistance Board, we occasionally have the opportunity to provide families in need with new and gently-used household items through the generous donations of families and organizations within our community. Please contact us directly to see if any of our clients are currently in need of the item(s) you are looking to donate. We can arrange pickup. Please do not leave household items in Borough Hall .
