PSA: “Operation Take Back New Jersey”
In support of the National Take Back Initiative, the Closter Police Department invites the community to take a visible stand against drugs by disposing of unwanted and unused prescription drugs on Saturday, October 26th between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day addresses a vital public safety and public health issue, while supporting the mission of raising awareness of drug use and the problems related to drugs during Red Ribbon Week. According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse, most people take prescription medications responsibly, however in 2017 an estimated 18 million people have misused such medications at least once in the past year. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including the home medicine cabinet.
Closter residents are encouraged to clean out their cabinets and take this opportunity to safely dispose of any unused or expired medication. Closter police officers will be on hand to assist with the safe disposal of medication. The location of the take back will be in the rear parking of Closter Police HQ near the garage. No questions will be asked. Please, NO SYRINGES OR OTHER SHARP INSTRUMENTS.
